WANTED: Designer Bookbinders...

A very limited number of copies of Philip Pullman's À Outrance will be hand bound by the best Designer Bookbinders around. Designer Bookbinders are involved (they do prize bindings for Man Booker) and these books are going to be just about as amazing as they come!

If you know anyone with exceptional bookbinding skills who might be interested in working on this unique charity project, please get in touch for further details. Experts from the US , Europe and further afield are more than welcome! (example photo is a binding in goatskin and gold leaf by Christopher Shaw)

Dear Nancy Bray:

I read your comment about the project to bound this book. I want to know the requirements for the book. I am mexican bookbinder and editor of the blog Artes del Libro. Thank you

Dear Rodrigo, thanks for your interest. Here are a few further details in response to your query. If you let me know your email address I would be delighted to send you a copy of the current planned layout for the book.
Best wishes, Nancy
_ Each binder will be provided with one copy of the book. Unfortunately, we will not be in a position to provide spare copies.
_ Each book has 48 pages, printed four pages to view, in eight page sections, on 160gm hand made paper. The page size is 250mmx350mm (portrait).
_ The book will be available at the end of June 2009 and bindings need to be completed by end August 2009.
_ Oak Tree Fine Press is only able to cover the cost of very basic materials and even that budget is very limited.
_ All profits from the sales of the books will go to organisations offering care and support to children made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS.
